A pair of bus accidents this weekend in Huánuco and Piura left 10 people dead.

On Saturday, seven were killed near the regional limits of San Isidro in Huánuco when a bus rolled of a cliff, according to the National Center of Emergency Operations (COEN). The center confirmed that 49 passengers were being treated for injuries from the accident.

The fall happened early Saturday morning between the Pumahuasi and Chino bridges. Authorities said the vehicle belonged to the Leoncio Prado bus company.

The bus fell off a ravine measuring 145 kilometers, according to a COEN report.

A Sunday bus accident in Piura left three dead and 20 more passengers injured when it collided with a tanker truck. The accident took place at 6:15 a.m. on Kilometer 45 of the Pan-American Highway in the town of Santa Lucía, according to the state-run news agency Andina.

Both drivers, identified as Luis Morales Juárez (58) and Víctor Coronado Purizaca (33), were killed in the impact as well a bus passenger who police have identified as Víctor Sandoval Alburqueque.

The injured were taken to a hospital in nearby Talara.

Police reports say the bus that was heading northbound may have gone out of its lane before colliding with the tanker truck.
