President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski’s approval rating plummeted to 32% following weeks of nationwide flooding which left 75 dead and over 100,000 victims.
An Ipsos poll showed Kuczynski’s approval rating fell six points from February as flood damages spread across 24 of Peru’s 25 states. The survey showed 58% disapprove of the government’s handling of the crisis. The president’s approval rating has been in steady decline since September 2016 where it stood at 63%.
Only 35% believe Kuczynski is adequately addressing fears over crime, 29% said he is not keeping promises, 27% said he lacks authority and 27% said his government is corrupt.
The poll showed 32% approve of his plans and vision, 29% felt he had sufficient experience and followed the right trajectory, 27% thought he was improving the economy and 26% thought he was improving education.
Those in higher social classes showed the higher approval ratings above 50% while lower social classes registered disapproval ratings higher than 60%.
Peru’s northern regions, those worst affected by flooding, showed the highest disapproval rating with 63% while the central region showed the highest approval with 42%.

There is no "quick fix" for the flooding issues; I believe PPK will take appropriate action once the weather is back to normal.
